Howdy!

If you didn’t finish your Mark Twain assignment from Monday, scroll down a bit, find Monday's entry, and go through the links again. Remember to send me a Virtual Mark Twain postcard, too! Follow the instructions that are there to be sure I receive it!

Today we’re going to continue learning about Mark Twain. I expect us to actually start reading Tom Sawyer tomorrow, so please be sure to have your book or a single subject spiral with you when you come to class tomorrow!

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about Mark Twain as I’ve been researching websites for you, it’s that he was a really hilarious guy. He cracks me up!

Below you will find a couple of links to Mark Twain quotations. If you remember from the video yesterday, Mark Twain was a wild child! I think he’d be so cool to actually meet, if only to get a closer look at that hair! (Ha ha!)

First, open a Word document.

Take some time and explore each of these sites, and choose 5 quotes that really appeal to you in one way or another. Maybe you just really “get” Mark Twain’s humor, or maybe something he said struck you as being poignantly true. Write your five quotes down on a piece of paper before you submit them as a comment, because I want you to get comfortable reading them – I may stick a microphone in your face very soon!

Here are the links: Remember to right-click them and select “Open as a new document.”

The quotes on this page are arranged alphabetically by topic. Choose an appropriate topic, of course. (Even though Mark Twain often didn’t…)

Once you’ve written your quotes on paper, go ahead and copy and paste the text from your Word document and submit your quotes to me.
